Acting For The Stage (7th-12th)

Acting for the Stage is designed to give students an experiential understanding of theater as they explore the techniques and methods of the craft. In this course students will be introduced to basic acting terminology, performance techniques, and theater history as they develop their skill as actors. Students will engage with monologues and scene work, working independently and in groups with scripts from varied genres. In addition, students will learn stage direction, movement, and be exposed to acting theories from Stanislavski to Strasberg. The first semester will focus on acquiring skill, knowledge, and technique while in the second, those elements will be applied in the performance of a play.
