STUDIO E! Sketch Comedy Workshop (9th-12th)
HEY, YOU! Have you ever wanted to be part of a sketch comedy team as seen on Studio C or SNL or Key & Peele or Portlandia or Monty Python?
Then the Studio E! Sketch Comedy Workshop is tailor-made for you! This class will operate as a sort of “writers room” where you’ll brainstorm script ideas – and then in teams you’ll write, perform, direct, and edit sketch comedy short films for our new Studio E! YouTube Channel – inspired by the infamous Studio C!
In this two hour, year-long class, you’ll experience the freedom to risk creatively in a FUN environment – where we don’t fear failure, we embrace it, because it makes for the funniest comedy bits! Each class will begin with improv games to help you get to know each other better, as well as spark your imagination and jumpstart ideas for sketches. We’ll aim to upload sketches every month – this means we not only need actors and comedians, but writers, editors, cinematographers, set designers, costume mavens, composers, musicians, and more! All of you will juggle multiple roles, and learn as you go!
At the end of the year, you’ll perform your favorite sketches in front of an audience at the Comedy Showcase, along with the Junior Improv + Sketch Comedy class. Some pre-recorded Studio E! sketches will be screened as well.
An optional field trip to an Improv or Comedy Show shall be attempted!
A FEW THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:
- I’m looking for team players who enjoy collaborating and making people laugh – and are game to step out of their comfort zone to try new things.
- If you aren’t a comedian or performer, you can still join the class if you’d just like to write the scripts or take part in producing the short films.
- Release forms required for actors in the sketches on YouTube. Comment section will be monitored.
