Barbara Corella
My love for science started in high school when I lived on a farm in the midwest, and where I worked with a team researching pollution of a river in the Midwest. After graduation, I moved back to California. While I was in college, I worked in an optical research lab at JPL. I also enjoyed running an optical research lab at Xerox/Loral Electro Optical Systems. I later graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Optical Physics at The University of La Verne. While working at Lockheed, I supported two space shuttle missions, one in 1992, the other in ‘95.
I retired to homeschool three of my four children. I have three daughters and one son. I’m still homeschooling my youngest daughter, who’s 11. My other two daughters have graduated. My 13 year-old son loves sports and is currently attending a local public school for their sports programs. In previous years, I taught physical science at Hope Academy in Monrovia. My husband Armando and I have been married for over thirty years and we love to explore nature, hike, camp, and take road trips. We also have been active in creating Good News clubs in our local public schools as well as helping to facilitate VBS camps with the Navajos.
