Lights! Camera! Learn! (6th-8th)
Step into the world of movies and discover how film has grown from silent black-and-white clips to the blockbuster hits we know today! In this fun, hands-on class, students will explore the history of filmmaking while becoming filmmakers themselves.
We’ll travel back to the early days of cinema—when movies had no sound, actors used exaggerated expressions, and storytelling relied on creativity and visuals. Students will be learning about the pioneers of the industry while creating their very own original silent film during first semester. Get the popcorn ready! We plan to project our silent film for the Eureka! community to enjoy.
Plus, enjoy a special Movie Day where we’ll watch and break down a classic film together like real critics!
In the second half of the year, students will continue to learn how movies evolved with storytelling, historical elements and special effects. Then it’s time to shine students will collaborate to write, film, and edit their own original short movie bringing their ideas to life on screen. This class is your backstage pass to the exciting world of film!
