Detective Fiction & Novel Writing (9th-12th)
Did you know that crime drama is one of the most popular genres in entertainment today? This one-year course will look back at how the detective genre got started by reading and discussing works by Edgar Allan Poe, Agatha Christie, and others. We will work on writing throughout the course by studying the patterns and techniques these authors used. Students will have time in class to write and peer edit and by the end of the year, they will have developed and written their own detective fiction novels!
The course is intended for students in grades 9th-12th, but middle school students are welcome.
This class is a-g aligned, and I have a single subject teaching credential for California.
