Shakespeare Studies (8th-12th)
Shakespeare’s works are filled with excitement, philosophy, and beauty! In this one-year course, we will read one tragedy (King Lear) and one comedy (A Winter’s Tale) together in class. We will study Shakespeare’s historical context, savor his poetry and language (including literary devices), and have fantastic discussions about life and philosophy. We will use the literature as a basis to develop your writing skills; the writing assignments consist of both creative and essay writing. We will also have fun acting out scenes, memorizing and reciting, and just enjoying Shakespeare’s works!
The course is intended for students in grades 9-12, but middle school students are welcome.
This class is a-g aligned, and I have a single subject teaching credential for California.
