Book Disco (6th-8th)

What in the world is BOOK DISCO? It is a lively book discussion class designed to spark a genuine love of reading in young readers. Through engaging, thought-provoking, and adventurous books, students will explore rich stories together while building essential reading and communication skills.

Each week, we’ll read aloud as a group, pausing to unpack new vocabulary, dive into compelling characters, analyze plot developments, and discuss big ideas. Students will learn how to express their thoughts clearly, listen respectfully to others, and support their opinions with evidence from the text.

Just like a disco ball with its many mirrored facets reflecting light in unique ways, every book reveals different perspectives when viewed through our individual experiences and imaginations. In BOOK DISCO, we celebrate those varied reflections—honoring each student’s voice while discovering the deeper layers of the story together.

We will be reading books and short stories from the western canon, historical fiction, graphic novels and more…come join us for an exciting journey through literature that’s as fun and sparkling as its name!
