Junior High Drama is designed to provide students with an experiential understanding of theater as they explore the techniques and methods of the craft. In this course, students will be introduced to acting terminology, performance techniques, and theater history as they develop their skills as young actors. They’ll engage in character-building activities, working on both monologues and scene work. Students will perform onstage in front of a live audience as they demonstrate their understanding of movement, stage direction, and other technical aspects of the stage. They’ll be encouraged to use their imagination to create fun characters as they learn to use their voice and physicality to tell stories. Through improv games, creative character games, and acting activities, students will acquire skills, knowledge, and technique that will then be applied through the performance of a play in the spring.

The Junior High Drama class will be held on Mondays in the Fellowship Hall from 10:00-11:30am during the Second Semester, with extended rehearsal time nearer the show. Performance dates TBD, and Tech Week will run one week before the performances — which is MANDATORY for students performing in the play.
