Little Knitters Beginning Handiwork (3rd-6th)
This Waldorf-inspired handwork class invites students to engage their head, heart, and hands through the timeless art of knitting and fiber crafts. In a calm and encouraging environment, students will learn foundational knitting skills and gradually explore complementary techniques such as simple embroidery, crochet, and hand sewing.
Working with natural materials, students will be introduced to the origins of their fibers, including the journey from sheep to fleece to yarn, fostering an appreciation for the resources and processes behind their work. Through steady, rhythmic practice, students will build patience, coordination, focus, and perseverance.
Each semester, students will complete 2–3 meaningful, seasonal projects—such as simple knitted items or small handmade gifts—gaining confidence and pride in their ability to create something both beautiful and useful by hand.
